Taken from the album ‘Babylon Destruction’, recorded at Channel One by Jo Jo Hoo Kim and originally released in 1980. The Overnight Players was a bunch of top rated session musicians such as Ranchie McLean, Ansel Collins, Mikey Bo Richards, Bubbler Waul, Chinna Smith, Sky Juice, Winston Wright, Dean Frazer, Clive Hunt, Nambo and others. It was too crazy to leave the Channel One studio during the night so basically the musicians would lock themselves into the Maxfield Ave studio for safety till the morning. Hence the ‘Overnight Players’.

‘Shaka the great’ was the opening track of the album, now rereleased as a vinyl 45 on Pressure Sounds. The instrumental track basically is a mighty drop with an acoustic guitar in perfect harmony with the horns and rhythm section.
