A text on my walking trip from Amsterdam to Brussels in 2009. In between the diary of my journey, I include short stories that all follow one rule: they are about people that I really saw along the way (but mostly didn’t talk with) and are situated in the place where I saw them. Both the fictitious and non-fictitious parts of the book elaborate on themes like familiarity versus non-familiarity, travelling versus being at home, and outside versus inside. There is, however, also a lot of room for casual encounters. Hereby I present an excerpt that was published in nY magazine #17 in April 2013.
